Marhaba… welcome!
A warm welcome awaits you from our English-speaking local representative, Martyn, and his team, who are always available to give you assistance during your stay. Khadija, our Moroccan maid, works mornings only and serves you breakfast, as well as generally keeping the house clean and in good order. She can also prepare you a reasonably-priced traditional Moroccan dinner, if you would prefer to eat in.
- Excursions and transfers
-
We can arrange airport transfers and an English-speaking city guide, as well as day trips with a driver/guide to the magnificent Atlas Mountains, the pretty scenery and Berber villages of the Ourika Valley and to the coastal town and sandy beaches of Essaouira.
- The Atlas Mountains and the Atlantic Coast
-
On our travels around Morocco, we have come across some very special favourite places to stay. If you would like to combine a stay at Dar Azure, with one in the Atlas Mountains or by the seaside in Essaouira, do let us know.
- Spa & Hamman
-
Dar Azure is conveniently situated close to two luxurious Spas, where you can enjoy some gentle pampering, including traditional Moroccan steam bath and scrub (hammam), speciality massages and beauty treatments using locally-produced essential oils and spa products. Please note that prices are reasonable and considerably cheaper that in the UK.
- Swimming
-
If you fancy a swim or need to need to cool off, there are several hotel, country clubs and water parks in and around the city, where you can have a swim, sunbathe and enjoy lunch. You will normally pay an entrance fee and/or be expected to buy a meal. Some pools are more suitable for families with children and others for adults, and we have included all details in our Information book. Alternatively, if you prefer, you can pay to have lunch and a swim and sunbathe at a very pleasant ‘hotel de charme’ just around the corner from Dar Azure.
- Golf
-
Marrakech has three excellent 27-hole golf courses, all within a 15 -20 minute drive from Dar Azure (plus two new ones opening soon). With ideal temperatures averaging in the mid twenties between November and April, Marrakech is a perfect destination for a Winter Sun golfing break.
You can choose to play a round of golf at the prestigious Royal Club woodland course, or at the impressive parkland courses of the Palmeraie and Amelkis clubs, against a backdrop of the snow-capped Atlas Mountains. Our local representatives can help you pre-book tee times, arrange transfers and golf club hire, if required (at extra cost).
- Eating out
-
There are numerous restaurants in Marrakech, ranging from the cheap stalls and reasonably-priced restaurants on the Square, to sumptuous palaces hidden away in the Medina, serving traditional Moroccan feasts. However, there is also a wide selection of restaurants in Gueliz (the New Town), where you can choose between a simple pizza or pasta meal, or a more sophisticated cuisine in a French-style brasserie or restaurant. We provide you with a list of recommended restaurants in our Information book.
- Shopping
-
Apart from the fascinating souks, a growing number of quality specialist fashion, art and craft shops are springing up in and around the Medina and in the new town of Gueliz. If you have had enough of haggling in the souks then you may prefer to visit some of them, where prices are normally fixed. We recommend a selection of specialist shops in our Information book.
- Children
-
Renting a riad for private use works particularly well for families with children, where you have your own space, can spread out and relax. There is a sofa bed in one of the bedrooms and we can provide a cot for infants, if required. Parents must of course be responsible for their children and supervise their safety at all times.
Marrakech is a great place for children and offers lots of fun things to see and do, as well as the opportunity for them to experience a completely different culture and way of life. From the snake charmers, acrobats and magicians in the Square, to the ‘Aladdin’s Cave’ of exotic spices and wares in the souks; from the beautiful Majorelle Gardens with its exotic collection of palms and cactii, to the exciting, slides and toboggan rides of the Oasaria Water Park, Marrakech provides endless possibilities for enjoyment.
- Smoking
-
Dar Azure is a non-smoking house, although guests are permitted to smoke on the rooftop terrace.
- Environmental policy
-
We try to run our house in a responsible and environmentally-friendly way and also encourage our guests to consider the environment and respect local customs and way of life.
